How to Get There

Waimarang Waterfall is located in East Sumba District, East Nusa Tenggara. It is located at an exact address in Waimarang Village, Melolo, Watu Hadang Village, Umalulu District.

Duration from Waingapu City is approximately 2 hours. With relatively good roads through the savannah. Drive straight on the highway for 60 km and you will reach the Melolo district. From the Melolo Terminal, you must turn right and then turn left.

Trekking to Waimarang Waterfall

When you get out and set foot in the parking area of waterfall, you can already feel the beautiful natural scenery around you. Located in a vast savanna, accompanied by a blue sky and quite a strong wind, you start trekking by going down a path. Waimarang Waterfall is under the parking area. The descending road is quite slippery; you have to be very careful because on the right side of the road there is a fairly deep ravine, and there is also no barrier or handrail along the way.

After going through the path, you will enter a dry forest, which is quite shady and has a flat path. Continue on your way until you find a fairly steep staircase. The stairs will bring you closer to waterfall, but you have to be careful and alert. The stairs are steep and slippery because they are still made of stone and soil. There is a bamboo on the side of the stairs where you can rest your hands.

The rather arduous journey of about 1 km was finally worth it when we came across a clear turquoise pool. Eits, be patient. What you are looking for is Waimarang Waterfall. You have to cross a pond and climb a cliff. Arrive at the long-awaited waterfall.

The beauty of Waimarang Waterfall circulates in cyberspace. The beauty of the pond and waterfall is the biggest attraction. It is like private natural pools between high cliffs. The color of the pond is turquoise, adding to the beauty of the atmosphere. It is actually divided into three stages, but the third stage is the most visited by tourists.
